5 Charities To Donate To This Christmas

The last two years haven’t been ideal for anyone in the UK due to the damaging effects of the COVID pandemic. Many people and organisations have been impacted immensely, especially charities, so now more than ever they need our help to get through Christmas.

Cool Running Rental are a Manchester-based refrigerated van rental company, and we love supporting local charities throughout the year. So, we have created a list of charities that deserve a donation this Christmas!

Springhill Hospice

At Cool Running Rental, we pride ourselves on being a company that supports the local community, and it’s a great pleasure of ours to be regularly working with Springhill Hospice. Springhill Hospice provides essential services to those who are struggling the most in the local area.

The charity specialises in palliative care, but have a wide range of services that they offer to those who need them. One of their most important services is their inpatient care. All patients that are admitted to the inpatient care program have access to excellent complementary therapies and day hospice, along with psychological and spiritual support from the Pastoral Care Coordinator.

The Springhill Hospice is funded partly by the Clinical Commissioning groups, who cover the cost of providing community services and a third of patient service costs. The remainder of the cash that is required comes from charitable donations, fundraising events and the revenue generated by the hospice charity shop.

So, where do Cool Running Rental get involved? We are a refrigerated van hire company based in Rochdale and are proud sponsors of the Springhill Hospice. We hope that our contributions have helped those in need of this essential care. We would challenge all of our readers locally or far away, to do their bit to aid Springhill’s wonderful cause.

Manchester Mind Charity

The pandemic has had many different effects on people across the UK, with the main culprit being mental health. A lot of people struggled mentally before the COVID outbreak, and the lockdowns we have had haven’t helped at all. A charity that has consistently supported the community is the Manchester Mind Charity, which for 30 years has provided constant support to those who suffer from mental health issues.

Many of their staff and volunteers dedicate their time to helping others in need, whether it’s just for someone to talk to or they need help with an issue they’re currently struggling with. Last year, over 6,500 people received support, information or training from Manchester Mind, which further connotes the fantastic work they produce for others.

They believe that everyone deserves to be supported with their mental health needs, and we all have to play our part. By donating to the charity, you’re helping more than 6,500 adults and young people with their mental health. So what are you waiting for – donate to this amazing charity now!

Lifeshare

The winter months can be very tough for those who are homeless and sleeping on the streets in the cold weather, increasing their risk of catching the flu or in more recent times – COVID. It can be a struggle for homeless people to get access to food, however, this is where the Lifeshare charity comes in.

For over 35 years, the Lifshare charity has helped many homeless and vulnerable people throughout Manchester and Salford. Once they have made contact with the person on the street, they offer continuous assistance to them so that they find a suitable and sustainable accommodation to live in and help them access initiatives that will carry their lives forward. They believe that all people regardless of sexuality, race, gender etc should be given equal opportunities.

During the Christmas period, the charity has a project which is to provide homeless people with Christmas dinners. Over the last 32 years, they have given over 150,000 Christmas dinners to people living on the streets, which is a magnificent achievement but it also shows the harsh reality that more people are suffering from poverty each year. Here is where you come in.

If you’re looking to donate to a charity this Christmas then it’s only right that you donate to Lifeshare, as the great work they do supports the less fortunate to fight poverty. Donate today and you can help give a homeless person a Christmas dinner they deserve.

Trauma Aid

Many people across the country have been deeply affected by trauma in different ways, with one of them being the terrorist attacks in Manchester and London. Too often people struggle with trauma alone, and it’s difficult for them to talk about what’s happened as they’re trying to move on from the situation themselves.

For many years, Trauma Aid has supported countless people caught up in tragedies that have occurred in their lifetime. They provide continuous psychological support for those in need, and have partnered with mental health professionals in countries affected by trauma. They aim to build a solid foundation of experienced and qualified professionals who provide treatment to the people who are suffering. It’s this reason why we believe they deserve a donation this Christmas.

Manchester Animal Shelter

Nobody likes to see animals abandoned, abused or homeless. They’re a part of our lives whether we own a pet or not, and it’s important that we treat them properly and respectfully. The Manchester Animal Shelter believes all animals deserve a good life full of care and love. They provide shelter, medical care and spay/neuter to every animal that walks through their doors. For over twenty years, their shelter has helped provide care and find loving homes for over 25,000 animals which is a staggering statistic!

There is nothing worse than seeing an animal wandering the streets alone with no food or home to go to. It brings a tear to all of our eyes, which is why it’s important they’re rescued quickly so they can be cared for. Without the Manchester Animal Shelter, there would be more animals abandoned and frightened, so it’s our job to assure they continue the great work with a lovely donation!
