Mercedes-Benz Vito

(F1 – Refrigerated Mercedes Vito)

The Mercedes-Benz Vito is powered by a six-speed transmission 2.1-litre diesel with rear-wheel drive (RWD). The Vito offers an innovative solution that does far more than merely meet the demands of today’s standards.

The Vito van is one of the smaller refrigerated vans in the Mercedes range. Its stature makes it perfect for taking on those smaller jobs. A large 5.8-inch infotainment display comes as standard in the Vito, with an iPod port perfect for on-the-road tunes.

Making the Vito comfortable to drive is the standard-fitted cruise control and a multifunction display within the instrument panel and a trip computer as standard. Fitted with a GAH Super Rapier SRF 21 Direct drive refrigeration unit and capable of reaching temperatures as low as -18ºC. It is the perfect vehicle to transport an adequate amount of perishable produce whilst maintaining optimum temperatures.

Complete with single phase electric standby and in cab controls to allow for the easy monitoring and adjusting of temperatures. The Mercedes-Benz Vito offers the following:

  1. Temperature range of +25ºC/-25ºC
  2. Refrigeration Unit: GAH Super Rapier SRF 21
  3. Electrical Standby
  4. Slab/Sliding Door

The fuel economy is less than 10% better on the Mercedes-Benz Vito with a 44.1mpg combined compared to the 40.4mpg for the Volkswagen Transporter.

You can see straight away that both cabs could not be more dissimilar. Although access to the cargo area is far easier on the Transporter with a wider rear and side apertures compared to the Vito.

Either way, if you’re looking for a practical little refrigerated van, both vehicles pack a fantastic punch in their own unique ways. If you’re wanting to save money you’ll want to opt for the Transporter, but if you’re wanting more space you’re better off with the Vito.
